Seattle, Washington: Danish rock band Baby in Vain plays during the grand opening celebration of the Nordic Museum. The Danish Embassy is launching an initiative by the Danish government to share Danish culture, ideas and innovation with communities around the U.S. In attendance is Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Denmark Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelsen, and Denmark's ambassador to the United States, Lars Lose. The landmark museum is the largest in the United States to honor the legacy of immigrants from the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The original location was founded in 1980 in an old elementary school in the Ballard  neighborhood.
