Santa Colomba de Somoza, Spain: Ermita de Santiago at the Cruz de Hierro (the Iron Cross). The rustic chapel dedicated to St James the Great was built near the cross in 1982. Pilgrims walking the Way of St. James traditionally carry a stone from the beginning of their journey to this important landmark at the highest point on the Camino Frances. They leave the stone at the foot off the cross to absolve their burdens.
