Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best (18/28)
Seattle, Washington: Executive director LaNesha DeBardelaben hugs Carmen Best after she is sworn-in as the Seattle Police Department’s Chief at the Northwest African American Museum. Nominated by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, the 26-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department has served as the interim police chief since December 2017. Best is the first African-American woman to serve as its permanent chief.
